Who Am I?

  • My life as a wife, mother, and child of God. I can tell a good joke, but only at my own expense. I can tell ya how to parent, but only by first failing. And I can tell you how to get to Heaven, but you gotta get there on your own.

Maria

Ha! Love this post. Very helpful hints though:)

Kami

This totally cracked me up! As I was reading these tips, I couldn't help but think "yeah right?!" What on earth. No woman about to give birth has the capacity to do all of that. Period. I say you call up your friends and let them do all the work! Once Ethan is over his RSV, we'll be happy to head your way to help.

Praying for you as your sweet bundle's arrival approaches! Loves!

Emily

That is almost exactly how I prepared for my little one! She survived and so did we, even if all her clothes are still in a bag and we dig out outfits daily (and she's three months now). Best of luck! Praying for you.

Luisellabella

ha ha! cute post! :)

colleen

you crack me up! Have you chosen a name ?

amanda

I love that you made the snacks and then ate them :) Hahaha that's awesome

"I made them snacks. I ate them."

BWAAHAHAHAHAHA! That's totally something I would do!

Mary C.

So funny and so true! :)

miranda

I totally would have eaten the kids snacks too. I also took from the freezer stockpile before the baby came, and then in the end, didnt have frozen food.

We did take out--a lot

LOL. You hilarious lady! Don't worry. At least a few more outfits are coming baby boy's way, courtesy of Auntie Amber ;)

Carrie @ Martin manor

;-). Are we ever really prepared for baby?! Ha! Can't believe it's almost time! I hope you get some rest now...now that you've done all the planning! Take care...can't wait to 'meet' your precious new baby!

ginny

I'm still working on my "to do before baby #4" list, and he just turned 2. Hugs!

Alexis

How to plan for a new baby: Make your husband a long list. :)

loved this!!

Sally

Amanda Jo

Renee

I bet everyone survives,no matter how prepared or unprepared :) I can't wait till Monday! Good luck, and have a smooth easy recovery! You will have someone blog or tweet the news for you right? :) Because your diehard fans want to know the details!

Amanda Rettke

Yes I will!!  Hubby is on board to help update and take pics (if possible) and share the big news!! :)

Lucy @ The Sweet Touch

This is too cute Amanda. I had no idea your due date was this close. Congrats in advance, this is one lucky little baby!:)

Deanna

Love this post as a mom of 4 babies right in a row. If I may add one:
Have one last date night with hubby when family comes in town before baby's arrival. Disclaimer: Try not to be too mad when your water breaks unexpectedly on morning of said date night (and on your very own birthday). ;)

Ruth

HA! I suspected this was gonna make me laugh when I saw the title. Don't feel bad, I am the same way and so is much of the world!

Kristin Smith

Amanda
I didn't realize the BIG day was so close...now I am SUPER excited for you!! Don't worry...you already do too much...let someone else take care of you for a change! :) Can't wait to see pictures and hear how everything goes...prayers are coming your way friend!!
Blessings, Kristin

Paula

Hilarious post Amanda but seriously, I doubt anyone is better prepared for the arrival of this little one than you are. To have regularly posted on both blogs throughout this pregnancy, to pre-plan posts through a family vacation, blog while suffering a horrible toothache, and then still manage *pay if forward* by offering up 10 dozen cookies that grew to hundreds and even more work...and the list goes on. One doesn't get through all that without superior organizational and planning skills.
Hope you get some rest this weekend, will be thinking of you on Monday and looking forward to news of your newest son. Take good care.

Denine Anderson-Regan

Cute post. I was lucky enough to have my mom and sister whip up meals for us during those early days otherwise we would have starved. Good luck with your delivery!

Leah

You're hilarious. Let Chad handle it and get a little rest before you welcome your new son! We're so excited.

carma

what is that they say about good intentions? - it's what counts most :D

Srsly though I am amazed at how you manage to do all that you do!!

I need to get to the bottom of this source of boundless energy!!

carma

I hope you have a smooth delivery. Can't wait to see your adorable new little one!!!

Carrie Cannon

Oh Amanda,

That was SO FUNNY....reminds me a little of preparing to leave the house for an hour with baby number one....you have a diaper bag with 20 diapers, five outfits, swing, pak n play, high chair, etc, etc....by baby # 5 I was lucky if I had a diaper when we would be gone for 8 hours....

Relax and rest up....you're going to need it...
Love,
C~

Shara

How about..."make sure that people from church know immediately when you have your baby so they can bring you cute new (clean) outfits and have the deaconesses organize food being brought to your home:)."

I can't believe it is already time for your dear one to come! We are anticipating the arrival:). Prayers to you and your family!!

Gianna

And this is why you have friends like me who want to bring you food and make your kids treats and won't look in your house when i stop by!

Natasha

I absolutely adored this post! You sound just like I did the month before my daughter was born. I had so many plans to get my life in order for her, but it never happened. Of course, she was my first, and she came 2 weeks earlier than expected.

Katrina @ In Katrina's Kitchen

This made me laugh! I was "so" prepared with my firt I think I did attempt most of this. It didn't matter because I was a heaping ball of hormones and the first few weeks flew by without me noticing anything. The second baby...well I was still trying to finf the tub of newborn baby clothes the day befoe he was born! And I also was proud oof myself for remembering to buy a pack of diapers and wipes that same week! lol

marla {family fresh cooking}

You are hilarious! This list is so true & your disclaimers are the reality indeed. Just be sure to thaw the clothes before putting them on the little guy. K? You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you have a smooth weekend and a quick and easy delivery. Can't wait to see you back online......from the hospital?? love you!

Bethany

Love it! I'm impressed you even were able to tackle a portion of the list to start with. I have no idea how you do it all.

Enjoy your family. Get some rest. Fourth babies are so much fun. :) I'll be praying for you. Are they inducing on Monday?

PS If you would send me your address again, I would love it! :)

Bea

We have baby #2 due in less than two weeks. We moved across the country a month ago. Today the baby's room is getting new carpet that doesn't smell like dog pee so we can, oh, pull the crib out of the garage. Let alone wash all the little clothes. They give you t-shirts and diapers at the hospital and that's all you really need anyway, right? Poor kid-- her big sister had this perfect little nursery and she may or may not have a crib set up when she comes home.

Shannon

Are we ever {REALLY} ready anyway!!! Enjoy these last few days and I look forward to seein' the new' lil' guy! God Bless!

kiralık devremülkler

thank you. i love to read this type of information posts. again thank you...

Jenney

I will so use these tips when we have baby #4. Nope, not yet, sorry.

aimee

Loved this - so true!! Don't worry, it will all come together! I can't wait to hear all about the new baby! : )

stephanie

can't wait to hear about the birthing experience and pictures! My husband and my 3 girls keep begging to try again you have inspired me to pray about going for #4! We have a huge age gap 15,10,9 but good helpers plus we homeschool as well. I really want to I just have so much apprehension and seeing you go through it is really helping me be open to another gift from God (I would love to have a son)!

Coco of VidaCoco.com

I'm expecting my fourth very soon, too! My goal is to make my family's favorite freezer meals, like mini turkey meatloaf and turkey burgers, this week in case he decides to come early... I try to keep my pantry stocked so I can whip up quick, yet healthy meals at a moment's notice without having to send my husband out for a grocery run.

The "nesting" urge hit me about a month ago. I spent 4 hours one afternoon cleaning out our file cabinets and after that I tackled the kitchen. And over the past few weeks, I've had the urge to clean out every closet in my house. No matter how much I do, I feel like I'm forgetting something and I don't feel prepared!

Alicia

I wish I had this list before I had my first!! :)

Janmary, N Ireland

Hugs and prayers for the next few days :)

Heidi McMaster

Ha ha! That last one totally cracked me up! :)

Katie R.

When Anna was set to arrive 5 1/2 years ago I had frozen meals stock-piled in the freezer too, afterall my husband would be with our son and he'd be working from home. I carefully planned for all their favorite meals and made sure to have easy and succint directions afixed to all the the packaging. I simply made a list and waited for a quiet Thursday morning.... Schwan's Day! Worked like a charm.

ali @ an ordinary mom

Haha! So much truth...

I did get baby's new clothes washed, not so much with the lovingly folded part, but there is an entire basket of fresh and ready to wear baby clothes. I'm calling it success :-)
