Who Am I?

  • My life as a wife, mother, and child of God. I can tell a good joke, but only at my own expense. I can tell ya how to parent, but only by first failing. And I can tell you how to get to Heaven, but you gotta get there on your own.

Jessica @ How Sweet

I don't really love cottage cheese, but this post has me saying "I have to try that!" We are huge Lawry's fans in our house.

However, I must go with the whole peanut butter or cheese on Ritz crackers. :)

Becki D

Never heard of this! Sounds pretty amazing, though. Kind of reminds me of one of my favorite cheese balls: cream cheese, can of crushed pineapple, some crushed pecans and lawry's. Spread on Ritz and repeat uncontrollably.

3rascalsmama

Never heard of it, either! We usually stick to cheese and peanut butter on our Ritz's. :-)

Huge fans of of Lawry's, though. I use it on a lot of different things.

Gianna

i just as behind as you! yet another reason we were destined to be friends!

Cassie Viele

This lovely treat has been around my local grocery store aisles on "sample day" for 20+ years. yum!

Amanda Rettke

I wonder if thats where I saw it??? :)

Joy

I'm with you! Never ever heard of it... but it does seem like a genius idea!

Renee

Looks interesting..and super easy for sure. I'll have to try it next time I have some cottage cheese :)

The Lumberjack's Wife

Never had it! Look! I am more behind the times than you!

This would not be good in your recipe, but have you ever had cottage cheese and pineapple tidbits combined?
Yum.

My husband would throw cottage cheese right back in my face.
He is such a picky pants.

Kerri

Just found you over at the Creative Itch! Love your blog! Kerri

Kristin Smith

I am glad some other commenters have shared they too have never heard of this...b/c I thought I was the only one! :)

Sounds yummy though...thanks for sharing with those of us that are behind the times.

Oh and my Lawry's is even bigger...not that I am bragging of course b/c what does that say about MY family?! :)

Have a wonderful weekend!!
Kristin

So simple but it sounds so yummy! I have often wanted to sub cottage cheese for sour cream in ranch dip. My daughter loves dip, but that would make it a little healthier.

Mrs. Mordecai

My husband always eats cottage cheese with crackers and it had never occurred to me before. We always ate ours with fruit growing up.

Jenney

We very rarely eat crackers, but I"ve never heard of this...and by reading your comments you are not that behind on the times :o)

Jess

Another cracker/cottage cheese combo that is VERY yummy is putting the cottage cheese on Triscuits. I like to top that combo with half of a cherry tomato, while my boyfriend eats the Triscuits and cottage cheese with Crystal hot sauce on top. I've never heard of putting it on Ritz but that will definitely be tried next!

Tracy P.

Nope, never heard of it. I like cottage cheese mixed with salsa, and I think a cracker would go great with it. Or a tortilla chip. :-) This sounds simply yummy though!

LindaSue Carter

hi Amanda, that looks YUMMY! But...try the Watkins season salt instead (my website: www.keepagreenhome.com) -- less sodium, more taste, and no MSG! You won't be sorry.... it took me three years before trying Watkins because I liked Lawry's so much...I still have a HUGE Sam's club size Lawry's in the cupboard two years later because I just can't bring myself to use it any more....
Hope you're feeling better!!! And bring the kiddos up to Park Rapids tomorrow or next Saturday for one of our pumpkin parties :)

Judith Norman

You're not the only one. I've never heard of it before. Not a fan of cottage cheese. I may try it with cream cheese. I know, it's more fattening. But a girl's gotta live a little.

Angien24

I'll have to try these, I LOVE cottage cheese. I'm the only one in my house that even likes it so I'm the lucky one that gets to eat it right out the tub because it's all mine! I love Ritz and Lawry's too but never thought of trying them all at once. I guess we'll be great friends since I'm behind the times, too. =D
Angie

Alexia

Oh YUM! I'm definitely trying that the next time I have cottage cheese AND that comment about cottage cheese and salsa, I don't even know why that sounds good...but it does LOL

Janis

Never heard of this but I am a huge cottage cheese fan myself! :)

When I was pregnant I ate a lot of Doritos and Cottage Cheese - now I still love it but don't have an excuse. :) Also the new sunchips peppercorn ranch dipped in cottage cheese is awesome! :)

I saw the comment about the CC and Salsa - that's pretty good too! :) I put it on a baked potato for lunch - filling and pretty healthy - no need for butter or sourcream then! :)

Have a great day ! Hope to see you soon!
Janis

Bethany

Yum! You are so setting a new trend. ;)

Zeeb

What about Triscuits and cottage cheese with chives on top? Or instead of chives, franks red hot? Is my FAVORITE snack! I lived on it in the college years.

Carine

hey you can also try the sweet kind: nutella on top. if you want more, add banana or some nuts..DELISH~I TELL YOU!!!

Amy K

Nope, never heard of it.
I voted for your pretty cookies too! Best Wishes.

Blessings...

Barbara

I'm smiling Amanda, because I've always loved cottage cheese on a triscuit for snacking!

And one of my favorite lunches is cottage cheese with radishes and red pepper mixed in, topped with Lawry's, roasted pecans and a hard boiled egg and tomatoes on the side. So delish.

Heather @ Creative Family Moments

I never, ever would've thought of that. Our family likes the Laughing Cow cheese but that's certainly not as cheap as cottage cheese!

Diane {createdbydiane.blogspot.com}

You should be expecting your phone to ring and it to be me real soon. I haven't seen that one :)
I do eat cottage cheese on my potato chips the wavy type that can hold it, or those salt and pepper kettle chips are my favorite, but don't tell anyone I work out with and please don't let my trainer know---I'm trying to not eat them everyday :) no kidding I really am, but I bought two bags of chips today, so I don't think this plan is working well for me! I figure the cottage cheese ads some protein and dairy if nothing else :)

Janet

Amanda, I think I learned about this when my daughter (now 18) was in preschool, they were learning the rhyme Little Miss Muffet (sat on a tuffet, eating her curds & whey) anyhow, they had a snack of crackers & cottage cheese. What a wonderful way to get picky kids to try it! They didn't use the salt, though. You ~need~ to try it with a tiny little dot of your favorite jam/jelly instead of salt. Delicious!

Laura

I've never heard of it myself, but my boys are huge fans of cottage cheese. Where do people come up with this stuff?!

Jenn-Jenn

Whahahaha.... here is South Africa they're called Salticrax and they've coined the phrase Salticrax Snax - one for every day of the month. Shortly after pay-day you get the ones with cream cheese, smoked salmon, garnish. Mid-Month has cream cheese, end of the month is a lowly bicky on it's own... but still good.

carma

this does look very tasty - and in 3 easy steps - can't beat that. We must try it!!!

Krysta S.

Love this snack! BUT we use Mrs. Dash, instead of Lawry's. I've been eating this snack since I was a kid!!

Michelle

I've never tried this snack. I'm not a big fan of cottage cheese, though. :(

I do love Ritz crackers with Chives and Onion cream cheese! I could eat that stuff every day for the rest of my life!!

Londa

Hmmm...would I? could I? I feel like this is comparable to trying green eggs and ham. I'm very unsure (even skeptical!), but in the end, I bet I would like it! You've never led me astray before, right?

debbie

this sounds good will have to try it,, something we do is simple as well,,get a cracker, add a tad bit of sour cream and a jalapeno slice and sprinkle with garlic powder or garlic salt, whichever you prefer.. it is soooo good!

AJ

Best "sample day at the grocery store" snack ever!

Amanda Rettke

I want to go to your grocery stores AJ! ;)

ali

Would you believe I've never seen that? Never ever, and I've seen quite a few snacks...

MaryF

OK, So perhaps I've been living in a cave for the past 30 years but I have never had these for a snack, and I'm trying to work out exactly why... it seems as if they would be SOOOO tasty & just as quick...

Must try these soon.... (and by soon, I mean right now!)

Leo Kevin

The kids will surely find this FUN.. ;p

MaryF

I tried them last night and they were so good... YUM!

Now I'm starting to wonder what other quick and yummy snacks are out there that I haven't heard about! :)

Thanks for sharing.

Rosa

Easy, but lovely nonetheless!

Cheers,

Rosa

Deborah

I totally make this but with the salad seasoning you can find in the spice isle. YUM!

cotton

It is a good recipe of cracker add cottage cheese. I love cheese. It is such a Easiest Snack Ever. Its looks so tasty and delicious. I never try like this recipe.

jp

this a ridiculous amount of sodium for a snack, especially for children.

Suzanne

I have never had this, and after going grocery shopping this morning (and won't again until next week), I am sooo wishing I'd picked up some cottage cheese! Looks yummy!

zeemaid

Well I must be out of date myself, I have never seen that snack before. I never would have thought of adding cottage cheese to ritz crackers. Looks yummy though!
