Today I have another guest contributor.
But she isn't like the others. I mean, I know she is family and all so must love me, but I am not sure she likes me too much!
A couple warnings:
I am not sure where Aunt Inga is from. Norway, Sweden, Germany, Greece... maybe Poland?
Also, the sound is wonky. Its very quiet then gets very LOUD at 14 seconds. Sorry!
Just in case you didn't hear a recipe in there (mostly because Aunt Inga never actually gave one) here it is.
Making your own cake flour could not be easier!
Homemade Cake Flour
Measure out one cup of AP flour.
Remove two tablespoons flour from the cup.
Add in two tablespoons of cornstarch.
Sift together.
Done!
I like to make big batches. If you are doing that, you can simplify your measurements a bit.
4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
To make two cups of cake flour, remove 1/4 cup of the flour and add in 1/4 cup cornstarch.
Easy Peasy.
Now, as you may or may not have noticed, Aunt Inga has a lot of opinions. The question is, do we want more 'advice' from Aunt Inga?
You be the judge!
You are HILARIOUS!!

This was hilarious!!!! I loved it.
I have used this substituion a lot. Actually I used it this week. I thought I had enough cake flour but alas, I did not. So I just used the AP flour w/cornstarch recipe. The cakes turn out perfect. No difference.
Love Aunt Inga. She's a hoot.

How you managed to pull this off without bursting out laughing is beyond me. Where you come up with these ideas I don't know and don't much care, just keep doing it. Perhaps when Aunt Inga gets that banana clip all settled in her hairdo then she will be able to provide us with some more of her wonderful baking tips.

OMgoats, I could never pull that off, I would have been laughing the whole time. Great job! Toooo funny.
Posted by: Veronica Miller | Oct 27, 2011 at 12:23 AM
how great is that? Now I don't need to have two containers of flour.
Posted by: sue | Oct 27, 2011 at 07:38 AM
Way too funny - it even made my dog bark! The "recipe" I use for homemade cake flour is from Rose Levy Berenbaum, but it requires a little math and works best with weight versus volume: 85% all-purpose flour and 15% cornstarch (e.g., if you needed 1000g of cake flour you would use 850g AP and 150g cornstarch). Even in delicate white cake it works beautifully.
