This is just a simple little cake meant to brighten your day.
Just a few purple flowers I hope will make you smile.
A plate served with three pieces.
Dont judge.
Just enjoy.
I used my basic white cake recipe. I whipped up a batch of buttercream, added some purple and piped away.
Hope your day is full of plates with three pieces of cake!

A sweet reader emailed me and said, "I am LOVING this cake!" and I thought to myself, "Thank you! That is so sweet of you! I wonder if we could hang out? Call me???"
Then I thought... Tidymom's "I'm Lovin It!" So I added mine. Are you going to add something YOU are loving? It can be anything. A picture. A craft. A smile from your baby. Come join the party! (The party goes live Thursday night, the quicker you enter the higher up your post is!)
Lilacs are one of my very favorites. They remind me of my mothers garden growing up.
*snif, snif* This cake is beautiful and sentimental :)

How beautiful! So simple yet pretty enough to serve as a wedding cake. I love the different shades of purple, and the way some of the flower petals gracefully reach over the top of the cake. Understated elegance. Thank you!

The last time I was at TGI Fridays, they served the dessert on those really long plates....but not 3 pieces, dang it! Just one piece, at the end, with swirly berry sauce ending in a piping of whipped yummy! It was gorgeous, and I've been looking for those plates ever since! Can't find them in my usual haunts.....wish I had better stores near me! I think I need a trip to a real city!
Your cake is lovely.....as always! And we could totally be buds.....with no judging....ever! Three pieces....of course! It sounds so natural!

Amanda this is such a great cake, so simple but stylish and elegant at the same time.
How do you do this?! :-))
It brightened my day. For real for real. :-)
Many many blessings and much love,

I love this cake. I just want to say as someone who decorates cakes on a regular basis that I REALLY hope this "vintage" style of cake decorating comes back in style. I know fondant is all the rage and I have worked with it...but I am in love with buttercream and how it looks and the amazing things you can do with it. And no matter how much we kid ourselves fondant will NEVER taste as good as buttercream!

Love how you used 3 different shades of purple! Really adds to the charm of this cake. :-)

Wow! Usually when you cut a cake it destroys the design. But I do believe this cake is even prettier as slices than it is as a whole. Lovely, just lovely. Did you use several different tints of purple for the icing, or did you just not mix it thoroughly in order to have different shades?

I am loving that I WILL take time today to drive out and finally buy myself some cake decorating material. I've loved your cakes but have always felt too klutzy to decorate. TODAY IS THE DAY!! Thank you!!!

This is just gorgeous, as always, Amanda! You make the prettiest cakes! And, you have WAY more patience for all of those flower petal pastry tips than I do. I barely use anything other than a round tip these days... I'm slacking!
