UPDATED: You can find the jars HERE! (Be sure to click on the lower price of $4.75 and not the $9 one!)
Cheesecake in a jar.
I have seen it a million times before, and have loved it each time.
So of course I wanted to try it myself!
I needed to find a recipe that was no bake but still tasted good.
And that would travel well.
And that I could modify to accommodate any toppings and flavors I wanted.
I brought these to a friends house... the gorgeous and brilliant foodie Miss Stephanie.
She is beautiful. And fun. And knows everyone and throws these fabulous blogging get togethers in Minnesota.
Now that I think of it, we are basically opposites.
This is chocolate with a Oreo cookie crust. With a pile of heath chips. Everything is better with a pile of heath chips, thats what I always say.
And by always I mean never.
I made seven different flavor combinations.
Strawberry Cheesecake
Blueberry Cheesecake
Raspberry Cheesecake
Cherry Cheesecake
Chocolate Heath Cheesecake with Oreo cookie crust
Chocolate Cheesecake with Oreo cookie crust
Cheesecake with Oreo cookie crust
It was easy and fun!
I modified this recipe from Pillsbury for the
Chocolate Cheesecake
1 package Cream Cheese
And slightly adapted this recipe from AllRecipes for the
No Bake Cheesecake
1 package cream cheese (8 oz)
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
2 tablespoons lemon juice (can be modified to taste)
1 tsp clear vanilla extract
Filling of choice.
Same directions as above.
I made the graham cracker crust according to the directions on the box and bought the Oreo crust. I just spooned about 1/2 cup of filling into each jar then added the fruit filling of choice. Then refrigerated for a few hours.
Easy peasy! Hope you are having a great day and have an even better Mothers Day!
If you want to try a wonderfully fabulous awesome delicious scrumptious Cheesecake instead of the no bake version, I highly recommend THIS one.
If you want a fabulous Cupcake in a Jar recipe... Tidymom's Apple Caramel Cupcakes in a Jar has me drooling! Plus we have the same taste in jars.
It was so lovely seeing you at Stephanie's last night, and your cheesecakes were delicious!

I've always loved these... so sweet! I haven't tried a no bake version but will deffinitely look into that. I normally use my New York style cheesecake recipe with a sugar cookie crust and then just bake the jars in a water bath until almost set and let cool in the oven before refrigerating them. They come out really creamy and always get lots of "Ooohs" and "Ahhhs" when they are put out. I'm loving the one you posted with the heath chips... think I will be doing that one next! ;)

I've been seeing these around too but yours look particularly scrumptious! No-bake is a great idea. I may have to acquire some jars soon!

Great idea to put a cheescake in a jar! I always make no bake cheescake (but without the vanilla flavor, and 3 Tb of lemon juice) with homemade raspberry filling. It's a hit in my family...
Happy mother's day!!

We've made pie in a jar and this was our next mission. It's exciting to see someone else make it first so that we know what it will (is supposed to) turn out like!

We made a bunch of "Key Lime Pie's in a jar" last night - they are SO cute (and yummy). Ran out of them all to fast at our little get together today. The cheesecakes look great!

Where did you find jars this size/shape? I haven't seen these near the regular Mason jars at the grocery store.
Posted by: Robin | May 07, 2011 at 05:13 PM
Those look divine!!!! And those jars are so cute!

Every time I make cheesecake I forget the sugar but when I try this I wont for get it. I promise.
Yet another great idea, I think I'm going to have to hold a baking party so as to use more of your recipes.

These are to die for!! Can't wait to make me some!!

Seriously...I've never seen these (or any of the other mentioned things) in jars before!!! I'm LOVING this idea and really love the idea of the no-bake version. My MIL buys stuff that all you have to do is pour into a crust....at least with these recipes I'll feel like I'm actually making something from scratch! ;)
Love, love, love these!!!!

Ive made these before but i did a bake cheesecake. I didn't run into any issues with the glass being heated but maybe it you frequently were to bake the same jars you would? It was a bit of a risk to make but they were great simple gifts :)
Posted by: Amanda | May 08, 2011 at 01:11 PM
I love everything I've seen and read on these jar desserts and can hardly wait to try and do some myself. Your cheesecakes (so many varieties!) look delicious. Happy Mother's Day Amanda.

These look so good! I love cheesecake and will definitely be trying out this no-bake recipe :-)
I'm a fairly new reader of your blog and love all the great ideas! Can't wait to try a surprise-inside cake. I just used one of your springtime birthday cakes as inspiration for a Mother's Day cake this weekend. Here's my blog about it (with a link back to your blog): http://minnebaker.blogspot.com/2011/05/mothers-day-cake.html
Posted by: Leah @ minne{BAKER} | May 08, 2011 at 09:25 PM
Here is one to try...I have used this for no bake cheesecake:
8oz cool whip
8oz cream cheese
and then flavoring of any type or a powdered sweet mix like a package of Tastefully Simple's key lime cheeseball mix or strawberry cheeseball mix. I am sure there are other brands of sweet mixes? Or you could maybe used flavored cream cheese. Put on top of a graham cracker crust, refrigerate and done...talk about easy peasy. 4 ingredients total and yummy....sometimes I add a little fresh fruit on top.
