I named this post flower cupcakes for a number of reason.
1. There are flowers on the cupcakes.
2. There are flowers on the cupcakes.
But they are different!
You shall see what I am blabbering about in just a moment.
So I volunteered to make about seven dozen cupcakes for an event my church is having tonight.
I got this *brilliant* idea to make royal icing flowers to stick in each cupcake.
I sorta broke 50+ of them on the way to church. I think my heart broke a little too.
Not literally. Just figuratively.
In each flower I made a little something special for the church.
I added "ACV" on each leaf. That stands for Alliance Church of the Valley.
I just wish the folks at church would have gotten to see them! Most likely, what they will see it this.
Can you see the other 'flower'?
This is my new favorite way to frost cupcakes! Its like a delicate rose!
You can also add some subtle color for a neat effect.
Kinda neat huh?
Well, no matter what method you try, you are sure to be a big hit at any party!
I really like the royal icing roses, I am totally going to try this idea. I would have been on pins and needle trying to travel with these bad boys, but I think with fragile frosting there are always going to be some casualties.

Very pretty, with or without the tulip. That is my favorite tip! I made blue roses for my daughters birthday this week and they were a big hit. Who would have thought blue roses would have looked so sweet. (I posted one on Sunday if you'd like to see it)

What a lovely idea. The royal icing roses look lovely, but I can imagine they were very delicate and easy. Definitely not one to try if the cakes have a lot of travelling to do!

I love the way you iced the cupcakes... They look amazing! I'll have to practice that this weekend since I am making cupcakes for a picnic. The royal icing roses are stunning, as well!

I love the royal icing flowers! I tried to do an outline with royal icing for a cake because of your last royal icing post and it didn't work for me. The designs just ended up crumbling into lots of pieces when I tried to move them onto the cake. :( Any tricks/tips you can share??? :)

sadly, i doubt i have the patience to do either (stellar) method, but the decorative frosting rose is my best bet. i love the choice of color you've added--the red-merging-into-yellow-orange is lovely. :)

they look so beautiful! I was wondering how you managed to get the peach/rose colored icing to be so wonderfully toned to get that yellow underneath to red edges effect? Thank you :)

How beautiful! I love this idea and I really like how you fit the church's initials in to the leaves! Brilliant!

The cupcakes and roses are beautiful!
The real reason I am commenting is because this world we live in is so small. I grew up with Pastor Jeff's wife DeeAnn. Actually, her youngest brother Brad and I are the same age. My family has been very good friends with their family and I've known them for over 20 years now. I grew up C&MA but sadly had to leave my church in Cottage Grove because of a not-so-Godly pastor.
I'll stop hijacking your comments now! :) Just thought I would share yet another connection, you know, besides being Christians in the same Frozen Tundra area. And just for the record, I was saying that long before I started reading MckMama.

These are so lovely. I can't decide which 'flower' I like better! The coloured frosting rose looks fantastic though. You are so clever.

Instead of royal icing, you might want to try Wilton's Color Flow. It is great for making standing shapes and is less likely to chip than royal icing. It also has a slight sheen when dry that's very nice. I used it to make butterfly wings, birds. Good stuff. http://www.wilton.com/idea/Color-Flow

I heart these! Wish I could try them for a cupcake order I just got, but am afraid they wouldn't make the trip to the recipient. Still, these are on my list to try!

Those royal icing flowers for the top were soooo nice. We've gotta find a way to make them more substantial! I imagine most of us here would like to do that part as well, but don't want our hearts broken too often. Anyone with a solution?
