I really like the royal icing roses, I am totally going to try this idea. I would have been on pins and needle trying to travel with these bad boys, but I think with fragile frosting there are always going to be some casualties.

Very pretty, with or without the tulip. That is my favorite tip! I made blue roses for my daughters birthday this week and they were a big hit. Who would have thought blue roses would have looked so sweet. (I posted one on Sunday if you'd like to see it)

Viv

What a lovely idea. The royal icing roses look lovely, but I can imagine they were very delicate and easy. Definitely not one to try if the cakes have a lot of travelling to do!

Heather

You make amazing treats! I think you should open a bakery!

Maranda

Oh my gosh these are stunning! But I would expect nothing less from you! Thanks for sharing!!

PeaceLoveTerri

tammy

OH MY!! your photos are outstanding! I know the work you put into all of these cakes and I must say it's a labor of love, and it shows. You sure have a talent there.. Awesome

Jen @ My Kitchen Addiction

I love the way you iced the cupcakes... They look amazing! I'll have to practice that this weekend since I am making cupcakes for a picnic. The royal icing roses are stunning, as well!

Sarah

Beautiful cupcakes. Love the idea of the royal icing flowers. I'm going to try doing that sometime.
Hope you have a great weekend. ~ Sarah

Noey

Beautiful artwork :)

Michaella

I love the royal icing flowers! I tried to do an outline with royal icing for a cake because of your last royal icing post and it didn't work for me. The designs just ended up crumbling into lots of pieces when I tried to move them onto the cake. :( Any tricks/tips you can share??? :)

Jenifer

Wow. WOW! You are just so talented. You never cease to amaze me by your creativity and talent. I've featured you on my blog today. Again. Because you're amazing.

Vanilla Cardamom

these are GORGEOUS! soooo heartbreaking that they all broke though!
oh well, the frosting technique is still lovely

grace

sadly, i doubt i have the patience to do either (stellar) method, but the decorative frosting rose is my best bet. i love the choice of color you've added--the red-merging-into-yellow-orange is lovely. :)

Tara

they look so beautiful! I was wondering how you managed to get the peach/rose colored icing to be so wonderfully toned to get that yellow underneath to red edges effect? Thank you :)

Dianne

How beautiful! I love this idea and I really like how you fit the church's initials in to the leaves! Brilliant!

Liz

The cupcakes and roses are beautiful!
The real reason I am commenting is because this world we live in is so small. I grew up with Pastor Jeff's wife DeeAnn. Actually, her youngest brother Brad and I are the same age. My family has been very good friends with their family and I've known them for over 20 years now. I grew up C&MA but sadly had to leave my church in Cottage Grove because of a not-so-Godly pastor.
I'll stop hijacking your comments now! :) Just thought I would share yet another connection, you know, besides being Christians in the same Frozen Tundra area. And just for the record, I was saying that long before I started reading MckMama.

Brittanie

I love the iced on roses, especially the orange-ish one! Just saw some of your incredible creations over at All Things Cupcakes. I've missed so much! You've been on a roll!

holly

These cupcakes are totally gorgeous!!! I love the roses-both of them;)

Renee

These are so lovely. I can't decide which 'flower' I like better! The coloured frosting rose looks fantastic though. You are so clever.

Madura

Instead of royal icing, you might want to try Wilton's Color Flow. It is great for making standing shapes and is less likely to chip than royal icing. It also has a slight sheen when dry that's very nice. I used it to make butterfly wings, birds. Good stuff. http://www.wilton.com/idea/Color-Flow

Tracy

I heart these! Wish I could try them for a cupcake order I just got, but am afraid they wouldn't make the trip to the recipient. Still, these are on my list to try!

Yosha

These are beautiful!!! I hope one of these days you do a tutorial on how to do the frosting rose! I love love love the coloured frosting rose!

Wesley

Both your flower ideas are original and pretty!

Marija

So gorgeous!! These look absolutely delicious!!

Those royal icing flowers for the top were soooo nice. We've gotta find a way to make them more substantial! I imagine most of us here would like to do that part as well, but don't want our hearts broken too often. Anyone with a solution?

Drea

I'm in love with these cupcakes! Thank you for sharing i'm going to make these this weekend ,,or try.

AnaCristy

These are elegantly simple! How did you tint the center rose? Is it tinted frosting or spray?

Jennifer Rutherford

Alice

SHARLA

WHAT TIP IS USED TO MAKE THE ROSE ON THE TOP OF THE CUPCAKE...IS THERE A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON HOW TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE ROSE?? IS THE ROSE MADE AND THEN ADDED TO THE CUPCAKE OR IS IT FORMED DIRECTLY ON THE CUPCAKE?

Lee Ann
