When sweet Anne asked if I would make some cookies for her kids I could not say no. She is an amazing mom of three kids and has more compassion in her pinky finger then anyone I know.
John (her oldest child) likes Batman and dinosaurs. Anne said she was open to my 'artistic interpretation' of that. Otherwise known as, I have no idea how to draw batman.
Luke likes Lightening McQueen and and Spiderman.
And just in case your wondering what the funny looking puzzle cookie is for... I wanted to do something extra special for the kids. So I sent along some extra frosting and now they can try and make it through the maze all while adding lots of extra frosting to their very own cookie.
I really hope they like them!
I used to LOVE doing maze's as a kid. I would have been in heaven with those cookies. :) You are so creative.

These are amazing! My first thought was they look like little tile pieces from a game. You are infinitely creative, Amanda!

Oh Yeah!! I'm so excited. I can't wait to get the cookies. They look awesome and I'm sure John, Luke and Grace will love them. Thank you so much!
Also, I saw your new post on mckmama - congratulations. That should be exciting to work with Jennifer. She is great. We did some advertising with her in the fall. And I really like her.

What tools do you use to ice the cookies? Not the detail work, just the flat background.

Just hopped over from MckMama. You are amazing! I'm adding you to my blogroll even though you are NOT going to help with my diet;)

I appreciated your piping work a LOT before, but after attempting it today, now I REALLY appreciate it! I just thought I'd try a little practice round before making my cookies this weekend. Omigosh, do you have carpal tunnel? Ouch! ;) I think I might have to do my detail work with buttercream icing!

Those are awesome!!! Question! are you rolling out fondant onto those cookies....or is it icing?? if it's icing, how the heck do you get it so perfect?? please share the secret!!! you can email me back: rachelisabel@hotmail.com
Thank You

I am using icing Rachel... its my special version of royal icing, but royal icing also achieves a really smooth consistency! Its called a line and spill or fill method. You outline a cookie then go back and spill in a more watered down version of the icing. It naturally sets itself evenly and smooth!
Be blessed-
Amanda

Just found your site through MckMama. Love your cookies. I am inspired to try and make some myself. Do you use rolling pin rings to get your cookie dough the right thickness? What thickness do you roll your dough out to? Can't wait to get started!

One more sugar cookie question for you before I attempt my own. I've never been a fan of sugar cookies because I like them chewy and I can never find a recipe that yields the kind of cookie I want. I found two different recipes on your sites. This one here http://iammommy.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/07/sugar-cookies-101.html and then this one here http://iammommy.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/12/dont-let-this-happen-to-you.html. Which one is your favorite?

I thought I had already commented on this post, but don't see it. Forgive me if I am doing it twice, but you deserve two comments! I LOVE the maze, Amanda! That is SO fun! You're brilliant!

a brontosaurus! nicely done, that!
incidentally, my maze would end up being a mega-blob because i'd just want the extra icing. :)
