A couple weekends ago we ventured to the small, small town of Odin, MN.
Hubby's Grandma and Grandpa were celebrating a 68th Anniversary (sorry I wrote 50th), as well as throwing a "Thank You" party to everyone in town who helped out with his uncle Dales' farm when he was in Rochester going through chemo.
Across from the hall was a park.
I have to tell you, it was nothing fancy.
There were old swings with no safety belts or plastic in sight.
There was a huge metal slide.
There was a merry-go-round and wide open spaces.
Perfect shady spots beneath the walnut trees for playing Duck, Duck, Goose.
And although I was a little nervous when my little ones ventured to the top of that slide...
... they loved it.
By the end of the afternoon, they were exhausted from running and laughing and swinging and going around way to many times and way to fast on the merry go round.
I loved that my kids got to play on a playground just like I did when I was a kid.
Thank goodness for the quiet, slow paced, classic charm of small towns. :)
