These cookies are for a very special someone.
Even more importantly they are from a very special someone.
It would be wonderful if you knew the giver of these cookies before you went out on NYE's, but meeting them that night is just as good.
You are probably wondering what on EARTH am I talking about on a baking blog?????
Let me explain.
I made these cookies after seeing a billboard on my way home yesterday.
It was a lovely young woman with the words, "Wanna Come Home with ME Tonight?"
At first I was appalled!
But then I read it a little closer.
The billboard was sponsored by Budweiser, and the young woman is a Designated Driver.
Pretty sneaky huh?
It is my hope that everyone has a fun and crazy and exciting New Years, but I also want every single one of you to get home safe and sound. Especially with all the dangerous weather everyone seems to be experiencing!
So this is my final wish you for in 2010...
Drive home with someone special... preferably your designated driver.
And eat lots of cookies!
Sorry. I cant help myself.
LOL sneaky, and cute. :)

cute! (as usual) :) Can you tell me what you use to write on cookies like that? Is it just a small tip? They look so good - must take lots of practice (and a really steady hand) :)

GREAT message Amanda!!........being the mom of a 23yr it's always a thought in my mind every nigh she is out!! Thankfully her and her friends are fantastic about ALWAYS having a dd, and they all take turns being it!!
Great reminder on this night!!........it's why we stay in.

Amanda,
the only thing that came to mind when I initially saw the cookies (before reading) was a song by Edward Sharpe called "Home"! Listen if you get a chance, it was actually the first dance song for a bride and groom at a wedding we attended 2 weeks ago in Montana.
Otherwise, great and cute idea! the cookies look yummy!

Well, I was thinking if someone had 1 to many on New Years Eve, they just might say to someone " Will you come home with me?

My favorite new word I learned from you this year Amanda.....Anywho!!!!

Amanda, this is a whimsical way to spread the most important message. You rock girl! The most booze I will have will be in that pudding I made. Nothing more, I could be anyone's designated driver. Happy New Year my friend. XO

You know, I first found you on LJ when (if memory serves) you posted those rainbow pancakes and everyone gave you a hard time and I got hooked on your blog immediately (if that wasn't you then I am seriously confused but still equally as addicted to your blog). I really love how optimistic and genuine you are. You really brighten up my day.
Not to mention the fact that your recipes are just crazy awesome!

Can't agree more...I always stay home on NYE, mainly to avoid people who have had one too many. It's scary.
Love the cookies, as usual. Your piping is always so neat and perfect!! :)

Thanks Charon! My best tip is to practice! I would get out a piece of wax paper and start writing away... :)

Love the cookies and the writing. What type of consistancy do you use? Is this piping gel or royal icing? What tip number did you use? Can't wait to see what comes this year! Love your blog:)
Posted by: NGJmommy | Jan 01, 2011 at 05:56 PM
that IS a good message, but you clearly would have to be careful. they could lead to a lot of confusion if they found their way into the wrong hands. :)

I love the reminder. It's very creative of you.
